Fantastic native shrub for nearly year-round color in Central and South Florida landscapes (Zones 9-11). Flowers very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Fruit attractive to birds. Shears well to a height of 4 feet or less, or mix with other large shrubs for a more natural look. Can take some shade. Firebush is cold sensitive. It will die back in a freeze, but comes back from roots in spring. Purchase plants from a trusted source -- there is no such thing as African or "dwarf" firebush. Plants are frequently misidentified in the trade.
